CMYK Offset printed pins: Also called four-color process or offset printed pins, and are produced by printing your custom design digitally onto an adhesive label. Then each label is individually placed on the metal backing, leaving a border when required, and then a clear epoxy dome is added to protect the label from scratching and fading. A CMYK printed image can be added on top of any of our enameled styles as a photo insert, at extra cost. An epoxy coating is added to protect it.

Screen printed pins: Solid areas of PMS colors are laid down over a metal surface where needed. Sometimes metal areas are left exposed as part of the design. Epoxy coating is added for protection.

Photo dome pins:Photo dome pins are created by taking an actual photo and printing it onto a label via our CMYK process. They are finished by adding a clear, flexible label, making them a bit thicker than our standard printed pins.

Custom die struck lapel pins have a jewelry-like look. This style of pin can be made in any shape or size. The process to create Die Struck Lapel Pins begins with a custom die made from your design. We double strike each design into a solid piece of metal. High-levels of relief can be added to your design. Then a sheet of copper, brass, or iron is stamped using the die, which creates a deep impression of your design in the metal. Cut-to-shape molds are made separately and used to stamp out the pin design impressions in the outline of the finished design. We stamp our pins into bronze, brass, copper or iron metal. Striking a logo into metal creates a recessed area where the enamel is added. In some cases, recessed areas are sandblasted to create a two-tone metal finish. Each design is plated and color filled or recessed areas can be sandblasted. We hand polish our lapel pins leaving raised area shiny. Recessed areas can either be antiqued or can be shiny.

Traditionally, the raised metal surfaces are then highly polished to a luster finish, while the recessed areas are sandblasted to create a contrast. Some of the most popular plating is our antique plating. The antiquing can be done subtly, for a matte finish, or more heavily, for a more rustic patina. Choosing to antique your pins is an inexpensive way to increase perceived value and to make the design details, especially the minute ones, really stand out. Where a high polished pin’s brilliant surface may cause glare and illegibility issues outside or in a bright room, an antiqued pin will keep even fine text and imagery highly legible. What is hard enamel pins?

Hard enamel pins are long lasting and durable with a very high quality appearance. The craft is a multi-step enamel process used to produce jewelry, vases, and other decorative items. For hard enamel, the enamel is added before the plating. The enamel powder is added and then stone-polished flat to the same level as the metal die lines. Each color must be baked in the oven one by one which adds to the process and cost. Once all the colors have been added then the badge can be electroplated and polished again to complete the badge. The numerous polishing processes is why the badge can achieve slightly less detail than soft enamel and why some of the metal lines are likely to spread in production and be thicker than the original design. Our hard enamel process is a modern process of the traditional hard enamel process and the main difference between our hard enamels is the actual enamel.
